Writing Out of Sequence

I teach writing. I have encouraged my novel students to make an outline and then write the story from the beginning to end. But I have also taught then to make a basic plot outline and then write scenes out-of-order if they want too. I do that. Some days the next scene just doesn’t strike my fancy for writing. So I’ll put it off and then write whatever scene I feel like writing. Maybe not the best plan but it works for me.

I found a fellow writer’s blog article interesting. He wrote a piece on this very topic. Hop on over there to read his take on writing out of order. Fun stuff. Good suggestions too.
